Rebecca's Visit and many projects underway

We have been doing plenty of traveling.  We made a quick trip to Kumasi to check on some projects and while we were there the area asked us to stop by a hospital and put some stickers on items the church donated to the hospital.

We stopped by our friends at "Better Life for Women" and gave them some stickers to put on donated equipment for children and young adults with physical and mental challenges.

members of the "Better Life for Women" Organization
This organization goes into the homes of physically and mentally challenged adults and children to offer physical and occupational therapy to these friends.  Ghana is challenging enough to navigate so we felt like this was a group we could support with a little help from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  We will be handing over these donations to the community soon!

We stopped by KATH hospital in Kumasi and tagged some donations there as well

This hospital bed was amongst many donations that were given to this hospital.

At the beginning of the week our friend Rebecca visited Elder Fuell and I from the United Kingdom.  Becky and I grew up and attended school together in Bremerton Washington.  We both grew up and went our separate ways.  I married and had children and she became an air force nurse and traveled.  She married a man from the UK and moved there and has 3 beautiful children.  We have kept in touch over the years.  When she found out we were serving in Ghana we talked and I invited her to visit us here.  Rebecca is a strong member of her Catholic faith, but we have always celebrated how we are more similar than we are different.  We are both proud to say that we follow our savior Jesus Christ and we want to serve him.  We really enjoyed having Becky here for the week.  Here are a few highlights from our visit.

Becky and I in front of the borehole (well) in the community of Nintin

When the well was open to the public, the women lined up to fill their containers

These women danced with us to show their joy and appreciation for having clean water

I love the look of appreciation she has on her face!

We drove to Bolgatanga (9 hours North) to see the progress of the teachers quarters.  This is coming along so nicely

Some of the children with Becky at the Kulpaliga school.  They loved her!  She was so interested in telling them to keep studying and to stay in school.

It was just so much fun to catch up and to be together

We said hello to these cuties after primary on Sunday

They were all coming out of primary with a treat and a drink.  We love the Ghanaian children

We will be heading up to an area called Drobo tomorrow.  We will be doing 5 boreholes in that area.  This is keeping us very busy.  Our humanitarian projects will soon be coming to an end with maybe 1 or two more that we can finish up or start.  When that happens we will have more time to focus on  self reliance projects in the district.  I have really come to love the self reliance program.  I really feel the love our Heavenly Father has for his children through these projects.  The needs here are so great, but we can certainly see how the gospel of Jesus Christ elevates their lives.  It has been an amazing life changing experience.  I will never look at some things the same way again.
I know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ.  We might bring them clean water but the young missionaries can bring them the living water that Jesus Christ talked about to the woman by the well.  It is the kind of living water that when you partake of it you will never thirst again.  This is the peace the gospel brings.  I am so grateful for this experience and we hope all of our friends and family are doing well at home.  We miss you and look forward to being reunited with you again.  God Bless you all
Love Elder and Sister Fuell
