Lots of play and behind the scene's computer work!!!

Temple rendering of the Kumasi Temple by Elder Milan Miller

We have plenty to catch up on, so this might be a long post.

We have been very busy getting a gospel literacy class going in a little town called Duyaw Nkwanta.  The Gospel literacy classes are so amazing.  We are starting in the first book where we teach them the ABC's and we introduce a gospel topic as well as learn a letter.  These humble people are so excited to learn to read and write in English.  I know it will greatly bless their lives.  We introduce the class and then we turn it over to a teacher from amongst their peers who can speak english and Twi.  We have 11 other congregations that we need to get it started in.

These are the beautiful ladies that were interested in learning English

Sadly, we have been saying goodbye to good friends and missionaries.  We are quickly becoming old in the mission.  Our good friends Elder and Sister Hess have been transferred to Accra to be able to serve more effectively in the Human Rights part of the mission.  Just after World War II ended the united nations decided to come up with a list of human rights that should be honored.  Our church sends missionaries to teach these human rights to teachers here in Ghana and they have a curriculum they use to teach the children.  We had a fun day with the Hess's before they moved to Accra.  We visited Kintampo Falls and the Monkey forest with them.  We will miss them, but it's nice to know that we have good friends in Accra.

Elder and Sister Hess are always up for a grand adventure!

We have a grove of citrus tree's in our yard.  We invite the missionaries to come pick the oranges.  They love fresh fruit.

They were so happy to get some yummy oranges!

Our daughter Katie and son-in-law Alex came to visit us.  They were our first visitors from the states since we left home 15 months ago.  We were sooo excited.  We visited Mole, which is kind of like a national park where the elephants and other large game live.  They roam free there.  It's similar to yellowstone park.

As you can tell from the pictures we had an amazing time!!

We stopped at Kintampo falls and saw this Green Mamba in a tree and quickly got out of there.  I didn't get any other pictures of that moment.

We spent a day in Sunyani where we live.  We visited an orphanage and Katie and Alex brought them a big bag of rice.  They were so appreciative

International friendship school!

We introduced Katie and Alex to friends we have made on the mission!

Katie and Alex and us with President and Sister Boateng.  They took time out of their very busy schedule to greet our daughter and husband.  It meant so much to us.

We drove to Accra which is about 8 hours south from where we live.  We drove through Kumasi and stopped and went to church with these Sister missionaries

Sister Atadika from the Volta region of Ghana and Sister Fakaanga from Tonga

Elder and Sister Hess invited us over for dinner when we got into Accra.  We soo appreciated it after a long day of traveling.  We had a great visit.

We visited a mosque in Accra and learned a little about the Muslim religion

We visited Osu Castle.  It was built in the 15th century.  It had slave dungeons below it and tunnels to the ocean where they boarded the ships

Dungeons (very hot, stuffy and clausterphobic)

They called this "the door of no return." the people coming out are tourists from Nigeria

The "door of no return" exited to a beautiful beach where they would be made to get in slave ships and they were taken to the Caribbean.
The area is known as The Bay of Guinea

We also visited the temple and area offices of Accra, but didn't get pictures of that unfortunately.

We spent 2 beautiful days in Accra with our kids and then sent them home.  It was still hard to say goodbye even though we will be home in 8 months.

We got home to Sunyani and decided to take these missionaries to lunch at KFC

Elder Backman, Elder Lenga, Elder Mpembe and Elder Bangula

Then we headed back to Kumasi to say goodbye to our dear friends the Miller's.  They were the office couple that ran the travel and the finances for the mission.  We surely do love them and they will be missed.

President and Sister Boateng gave them traditional Ghanaian outfits to wear home.

We have been doing a lot of playing the last couple of weeks as you can tell.  We have been doing plenty of computer work behind the scenes to keep our humanitarian projects moving along.  We have 2 boreholes ready for handover in the Mampong region here really soon and an equipment delivery to make to a few handicapped children in Obuasi.  Our teacher's quarters are coming along very nicely near Bulgatanga and we will be visiting there soon to do a check.  Also, we are just getting started on the 5 boreholes in the Drobo area north of us.
We are starting a family history institute class tonight for the young single adults.
The Dental needs of the mission is keeping me busy that way.
My piano students are all coming along.

We will be welcoming a new mission president and his wife to Sunyani in July.  They are coming from Orem Utah so we have been getting to know them small small.  We stand ready to help them get adjusted however we can.  Akwaaba to the Anderson's.

We know we will be forever blessed by this opportunity to serve the people of Ghana.  This is the true Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.  He lives and loves all of his people all over the world.  There are so many ways to serve him by serving our brothers and sisters where ever they are.  We will be forever changed by this experience.  It is not easy to live in Ghana, but I love Ghana and the people here.
We hope all of you are doing well.

Elder and Sister Fuell
