A visit with the chief and a borehole handover!
We were able to meet with the Chief of Sunyani again last week. We are still working out details of land and a wellness clinic for the indigent people of the surrounding area. A lady in our District is especially concerned about the number of women who die of breast cancer. There is no mammogram machine in the surrounding area to help detect this kind of cancer. They have petitioned the Church and the Chief of the village to help with a wellness clinic that will have a mammogram machine to help with screenings. Oh the things we take for granted.
We work very hard to maintain good relationships with local leaders. I think we can call Chief Korkor our friend.
This is our borehole we helped complete from beginning to end. We handed it over to the community of Addokrom yesterday.

When we do a handover, it is a party with the community and leadership from our church. This was a small village, but it was so much fun to celebrate with them.
The Chiefs of Addokrom accepting the borehole
The Chief takes his own drink of water and declares it to be good!
A woman demonstrated how she can load her water on the go.
Cute Relief Society ladies toasting their clean water to the missionaries!
I noticed this very sweet Muslim woman sitting in the back with her children.
She very quietly went and retrieved a plastic cup and filled it up and let her children have a drink of the cool clean water. This is why we work so hard and do the things we do.
We were able to say a few words at the handover. We explained to the villagers that Jesus Christ was able to give them this borehole based on sacred donations from Africans, Europeans and Americans that fast for 2 meals and donate to them. We put a plaque on the borehole telling anybody who comes by that the borehole was donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This borehole will elevate lives.
This has been such a blessing to be involved in.
These are our Jr. Missionaries of our Sunyani Zone with us.
We sure do love these hard working Young Men and Women! They are valiant in their testimonies and Serve with all of their heart, might, mind and strength! They are all a good example to me and I pray for them everyday.
A shout out to our youngest son Tom! He had a birthday on July 20th. He is a wonderful son and we couldn't imagine our family without him! Also a happy birthday to my sister Karen! Its her birthday today. She is always so kind and supportive to our family. We love you both!

Great work you two. Samuelsons are working with us at the Draper Temple and wish they could go back to Ghana. They report it was such a great experience.
